Even More Actions Coming Up Soon!

We need an all-peoples' movement for these activities.

It may be true that individual organizations can do a fair job of fighting to save jobs, stop cuts, and end wars; but we can be much more effective by recognizing that our interests coincide, especially on the October 2 national event. An Ad Hoc committee, one that has only one single purpose, is the strongest form of coalition. The previous page outlines some of these activities, but newer ones are added here.

9-3 and 9-10 "Solidarity Stand"

One of the many workers' benefits derived from our 2008 presidential victory came when Barack Obama reversed George W Bush's ban on organizing airport screening workers. In North Texas, those TSA workers are joining the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1040 and trying to get a decent contract. To that end, they are asking that people join them in a public display 11-2 PM on September 3 and September 10 at the main airports. At DFW on 9-3, they will be at Terminal D-22 sidewalk. At Love Field on 9-10, they will be on the walkway between the Garage A & B. For more information, call organizer Maria De Leon at 202-607-6026.

The Dallas AFL-CIO presents its annual Labor Day Breakfast at 9 AM at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Hiway 114 & Esters Dr. For tickets contact 214-826-4808. 9-9-10 Theology Seminar

(MAP). Dr Joerg Rieger, who has been actively promoting labor/ religious alliances, will host Reverend Friedrich Gehring of Germany and Gil and Inez Dawes of Iowa to "provide compelling evidence that another church and another world are possible."

10-3 Contract expiration

United Aerospace Workers Local 848, which hosts the monthly 2nd Wednesday meetings of North Texas Jobs with Justice, is getting ready for their main contract to expire on October 3. If the new owners, Triumph Aerospace, hasn't offered them a decent contract, the union may be forced to take concerted action, and they will need a lot of help! People who would like to help them may sign up at their union web page.

You do not have to be a union member to stand with the workers!
